311 and Snoop Dogg - A Smoking Hot Summer Concert
During the final two songs on Snoops setlist the storm was brewing, the rain started and the sky looked ominous. But Snoops funky beats chased the storm clouds out and after a brief shower the lights went out and 311 rocked the house.
My toe is swollen.
The set was one of the shortest I have seen, and I have seen twenty-some of them, but it was quickly rocketed to the near top. It was short, but tight and hard. Just the way you want to have it so none of the “old-school” fans get bored.
My back aches.
Best moment of the show? The encore. Fat Chance (FTBS). Best last song any band can play to end a show hands down. I was delighted, and sweaty.
Snoop threw out a great variety of old and new. Not to mention a splash of Biggie Smalls and House of Pain. The full band was impressive and talented and pulled an unexpected nice sized audience. He was worth the price of admission alone.
311 and Snoop Dogg - A Smoking Hot Summer Concert
If anyone is still undecided on whether to see this show, GO! The crowd was amazing and positive and at the end of it all there wasn’t a dry armpit in the house. Everyone was bumpin to the beats Snoop and 311 threw down.
My voice gone.
Then Threeeleven came out and played a hell of a set. To my liking, there was a nice grouping of songs from the first four albums. The staples were played as well. Love Song, Beautiful Disaster, Beyond the Grey Sky, the “Happy Slam Dance Song” Do You Right, Hive was a pleasant surprise, and they opened with Down to get the party started.
These are all signs that you have done something worthwhile. Last night was worthwhile. Last night Snoop Dogg took the stage at about 7pm and rocked the pavilion. At least everyone there thought he rocked the place until Nick Hexum and the 311 crew shook Nissan Pavilion down.
